FAQ

The questions business owners ask us most.

What is brand design, and is it worth it? Here are the questions our clients ask most often.

01

Is brand design only for big companies with big budgets?

Of course not. Brand design is like a brand's brain: it shapes how the brand thinks and why people come to like it. A brand has a personality precisely because brand design has been involved.

And personality is exactly what every business most needs to build. Today everyone buys ads and everyone promotes. Relying on just a name or a logo to make countless consumers remember your company is far too weak.

Brand design brings together a brand's information, promotion, words and atmosphere into one three-dimensional impression: one that makes people remember you instantly. Every company, big or small, needs that impression.

02

Is brand design just a logo and stationery?

No. A logo, envelopes and letterhead are like the clothes a company wears when it goes out. What the company actually stands for is what brand design builds.

When people think of Apple, they don't just think of its clean black-and-white style and the apple logo; they recognise it as an innovative technology company. That impression of innovation didn't come from the bite taken out of the logo.

So how is that impression formed? Through years of the company consistently expressing itself with the same form, tone and experience.

03

What is the difference between brand design and advertising?

Put simply, advertising is a short-term investment: buy ads and the share price goes up. Brand design is more like investing in a fund: you do a little every day and add a little every day, and over the years it builds into leverage.

That is why brand design is a long-term investment.

04

Can small and medium-sized businesses benefit from brand design?

Yes. Honestly, before AI became widespread, getting the full power of brand design was very expensive for SMEs, because deciding a brand's direction and strategy took a great deal of market data and analyst research.

Today, AI can help SMEs use brand strategy to grow their business. This is exactly what lets SMEs use AI systems and brand design strategy to compete with large companies.

05

Is brand design the same as graphic design?

No. Graphic design starts from whether something looks good, and produces design pieces from there.

Brand design starts with where the brand wants to be in the next three to five years, and sets the brand's thinking, behaviour and strategy from that goal. Only then does a graphic design concept follow, to support the whole brand strategy.

06

Does brand design really increase a company's revenue?

What brand design mainly increases is customer loyalty. When a brand is well designed, customers come back and buy again far more often than they do with companies that have done no brand design. Without a brand, people decide whether to buy a product purely on price; with brand design, you have already built a relationship with your customers, trust naturally grows, and to a certain extent that raises revenue.

There is another side. When a brand's image and design are strong, the most obvious way it helps a business is in hard times or an economic downturn: the brand becomes a firewall. When consumers are short of money, they buy from companies they know and trust first. So if you keep working on your brand strategy, you are building a firewall that protects the business from outside shocks and an unstable environment.

That is why brand design clearly helps a business in two ways: increasing revenue and stabilising revenue.
